Kurozan leather has been used since ancient times for the armor of generals, and is now used for kendo armor. Currently, it is only made by Sakamoto Shoten in Himeji, and because it is made by applying multiple layers of lacquer, it is an extremely rare material with only about 20 pieces produced per month.

MATERIAL

White-tanned Japanese black beef is given a rough surface and then lacquer is applied by hand over and over again. Rather than dividing the work into separate tasks, Sakamoto Shoten produces the entire process from tanning to processing. The gloss and volume of the lacquer is created by applying multiple layers, and it is so beautiful that it is called "black diamond leather."

In addition, Kurozan leather was the first in Japan to win an award at an overseas materials exhibition, and has been inundated with requests from high-end brands around the world, making it a truly samurai leather that is highly regarded overseas.
