The leather surface is dyed with a "gradation dyeing" technique, which is also used for dyeing kimonos. Each piece of leather is carefully hand-dyed by a craftsman to create an elegant gradation.
The unique characteristics of natural materials
The leather we use is natural and retains the original scars, wrinkles, blood vessels, and other characteristics of the animal's skin, so no two pieces are exactly the same in appearance or quality.
These are some of the great charms of natural leather.
Any noticeable defects are removed during inspection, but please understand that these are unique characteristics that only natural leather can exhibit.

COTOCUL is a coined word that combines the words "koto" (ancient capital) and "culture," and embodies our desire to spread the culture of Kyoto and the good things about Japan through craftsmanship, and we value the attitude and temperament of the Japanese people when it comes to craftsmanship.
Each product is handmade with care by artisans in our Kyoto workshop.
